Sand Castles in February?

What bizarre weather we are having. Yesterday it reached the mid 70s. Grandmère, who flew in last week from Paris to escape the dreary weather there, is in awe. Every time she steps foot outside she says, "C'est magnifique!"

(Naturally, I would trade places with her in a heartbeat. Paris? I don't mind the bleary weather.)

We are enjoying this freakish weather and hung out in at the Santa Cruz harbor this weekend.
Before you snow-belters accuse me of rubbing this in your face, I must admit to you a secret fantasy of mine, being cooped inside during a winter storm, drinking hot chocolate, reading, knitting (I don't know how, but I could learn?) and playing Scrabble with the family. I'm not the only one; the other day my daughter said to me "I wish we'd have a snow day. So we can stay home from school and play ALL day in the snow."

And perhaps like Rebecca, I'd get things done! If there was ever a case for being sequestered at home due to a snowstorm, her post me convinced me (although this is probably pure fantasy on my part since I am, after all, a complete wimp when it comes to the cold).

Want to trade places???? Love the pics I know exactly where you took them. Hope to see you in April.

Snow days can be a lot of fun, but sometimes the dream is better than the reality--when you lose power or when they go on endlessly and you have to make up the school days in June when you are supposed to be on vacation.

Looks so peaceful and calm, not like the other day when the effects of the tsunami hit. Weird weather -- and weird natural disasters -- for sure. Too much of it lately, too.

Love the photos. I have to agree there is something wonderful about the occasional snow day. (Emphasis on occasional!). Warm fire, hot cocoa, a good book. Even on the days we lost power it was an opportunity to reconnect with family without technology interruptions. A balance of both would be ideal!

Yes, "occasional" would be great! And so true Cat, a "balance" would be great!

The weather this year definitely has been out of the norm. But hey, all you can do is enjoy it, right? And you definitely seem to be doing that in Santa Cruz. ;)
