A Few of My Favorite Things about France

A few things that I'm really looking forward to in France:

Before I met my husband, I could only rattle off a handful of different types of cheese.  And I wasn't keen to broaden my choices beyond the standard cheddar, jack and swiss back then.

Since I've known P, every week he brings home a variety of cheese (courtesy of Trader Joe's), Gouda, Fontina, Camembert--it's astouding how much cheese is out there! ComtĂ© is my all time fav.  I went through hunks of the stuff last time I was in France.  I love the tradition of bringing out cheese and a baguette after each meal, something my husband continues to do to this day.  To my husband and his family, it's not a meal if it doesn't include cheese and bread (and wine, of course).  Unfortunately, it's something I can't indulge in every meal.  But in Paris, it's going to be tough to hold back!

And my all time favorite dish to satifsfy my sweet tooth?  Crepes.  I can taste those warm crepes smothered in chocolate now.  Looking at this picture last night at 11 pm on Flickr possessed me devour a few spoonfuls of Nutella.  (By the way, I will never convince my hubby that Nutella is junk food.)

These, along with some coffee, is my idea of paradise.

We're FINALLY doing it! Going to Paris

I'm so excited.  Our flight is booked; and we're off to Paris this summer.  We'll be staying for an entire month.

(With NO internet access, by the way! )

I'm a tad nervous.  It's been a few years since we've been and my already shaky French has gotten way worse since then.  (Better dig out that French textbook.)  And I'll have to force the husband to teach the kids a few more words in French (other than the cuss words they already know, oops).

I'm SO looking forward to this trip.  Not only because we are traveling to the most exciting city in the world, but we'll get to see a few of our friends we haven't seen in awhile.  And, there are relatives that our youngest has never met, being that he's never been to France.

Oh, and the best part?  Free babysitting while touring the city of love!

Can you believe, my husband being the typical Parisian, has never set foot in the Eiffel Tower?
