A Few of My Favorite Things about France

A few things that I'm really looking forward to in France:

Before I met my husband, I could only rattle off a handful of different types of cheese.  And I wasn't keen to broaden my choices beyond the standard cheddar, jack and swiss back then.

Since I've known P, every week he brings home a variety of cheese (courtesy of Trader Joe's), Gouda, Fontina, Camembert--it's astouding how much cheese is out there! Comté is my all time fav.  I went through hunks of the stuff last time I was in France.  I love the tradition of bringing out cheese and a baguette after each meal, something my husband continues to do to this day.  To my husband and his family, it's not a meal if it doesn't include cheese and bread (and wine, of course).  Unfortunately, it's something I can't indulge in every meal.  But in Paris, it's going to be tough to hold back!

And my all time favorite dish to satifsfy my sweet tooth?  Crepes.  I can taste those warm crepes smothered in chocolate now.  Looking at this picture last night at 11 pm on Flickr possessed me devour a few spoonfuls of Nutella.  (By the way, I will never convince my hubby that Nutella is junk food.)

These, along with some coffee, is my idea of paradise.

Oh my Lord, you've got my mouth watering. And Comté is my absolute favorite! The last time I was in France I must have eaten a pound!

By the way, Nutella is a health food. It has hazelnuts in it, so it must be nutritious. At least that's what I tell my kids. :)

No way is Nutella junk food. Nutella is the perfect food -- easy to tote and store, goes with everything (OK, may that's a stretch, but just a bit), and brings out a smile in anyone, no matter what their age. Long live Nutella! ;)

Looks like we both have crepes on the brain! I am so jealous of your trip to Paris. I can't wait to hear about it!

I am just like your husband, stocking up on cheese with every supermarket run. My favorite is raclette - just dreamy for grilled cheese.

And don't get me started on Nutella, the nectar of the gods. No matter how bad a day is going, a spoonful of Nutella can make the day brighter.
